Tubular Stranding & Closing Line | MS Series For Etrochemical Cables, ACSR And OPGW
1. Application
This machine is suitable for steel core aluminum stranded wire, steel stranded wire or stranded wire. The two-section integrated production process of the stranded pipe cage, small turning radius, both ends of the bearing support, can ensure stable operation and long service time.

What it is and typical use
A tubular (tube) stranding machine forms ACSR and other stranded conductors by rotating a precision tube (cage) around a fixed core. It is widely used for bare copper/aluminum, steel wire, ACSR/AAAC, and can also serve as a high‑speed strander for insulated cores with an added taping head. Typical line composition includes: central payoff, tubular stranding cage, assembly die, meter counter, traction (capstan), take‑up with traverse, and PLC/HMI control. Machines commonly support both torsion and total back‑twist modes with variable back‑twist, constant‑tension payoff, and per‑bobbin break detection
Sizing and selection guide
Define ACSR structure and target: number of aluminum strands and steel core wires, finished OD, required lay length/pitch, and whether you need back‑twist (planetary) or zero back‑twist.
Match single‑wire capability: ensure max single‑wire diameter/strength (e.g., Al φ1.5–5.0 mm, Cu φ1.3–4.6 mm, steel φ1.3–4.0 mm for many high‑speed tubers) and the machine’s max stranded OD (e.g., up to φ15 mm on high‑speed models).
Set haul‑off and capstan: choose a capstan diameter and line speed consistent with your production target and pull force (e.g., line speed 20–100 m/min on high‑speed models; dual capstans such as Ø1200 + Ø1000 mm for larger ACSR).
Reel logistics: confirm PN sizes for in‑cage bobbins and take‑up to match plant handling (e.g., PN1250–PN2000 common on 400–630 class machines; PN1600 typical on 630/1+6 ACSR lines).
Control and quality: plan for PLC/HMI with tension, pitch, and length control; add in‑line OD/geometry and eccentricity monitoring as required
PN1600 end‑shaft take‑up.

It is ideal for the production of:
Round compacted strands, copper and aluminum
Round normal AAC and strands with hard drawn aluminum and copper wires
OPGW constructions in single and multiple passes
Sector conductors
AAAC and ACSR strands up to 19 wires (in one or two passes)
Steel strands with regular, high and extra high strength wires
Laying up of flexible strands for flexible rope constructions
Armoring of optical core elements with steel wires
Laying up of insulated cores
Features:
1. machines are driven by frequency controlled three-phase motors, providing separate drives to the stranding rotor, haul-off and take-up assemblies meaning that gears and transmissions are no longer required for this purpose.
2. digital control technology enables the infinitely variable lay-length to be set from the control desk.
3. speeds can be infinitely varied from the control desk position during the operation of the machine.
4. touch screen control via programmable controllers provides fully automatic process control and operation, machine monitoring, programme management, data recording and storage, service functions and maintenance.
5. speed and angle synchronisation, torque- and traction control.
6. maintenance of all product related quality parameters at all times ensured by controlled machine braking, including in the event of an electrical failure (AC drive versions).
