Tubular stranding machines general information
This type of machine is called “tubular stranding” because of the geometric shape of the main torsion block, its another name is “tubular type stranding machine”. It’s a tubular or cylindrical type strander. Among the people and among manufacturers it’s called as a tubular -type stranding.

Tubular stranding machines are designed for stranding steel, copper or aluminum uninsulated cores, as well as for booking cable and twisting of steel cables. The standard of the twisted core design: 1+6 / 1+12 / 1+18. The advantage of the machine is high operating speeds, which has a positive effect on the line speed and total production capacity of the line.

The main torsion block of the machine is a cast or assembled cylindrical cigar–shaped (cylindrical) type rotor - "cigar", that containing consoles with installed pay-off coils that have wire workpiece. The coil with a central core is installed in front of the rotor along the axis of the line in the separate cantilever-type pay-off machine. Workpieces, including the central one, pass through dies of the torsion block and, after passing the full length of the torsion unit, link up in the distribution outlet at the output. The tension control of the workpieces is carried out by using hysteresis brake couplings in semi-automatic mode or band mechanical brakes (optional). The rotating rotor rotates at the support points of large bearings. Each bearing is equipped with an oil circulation system to provide lubrication and cooling.

The stranding of workpieces is happening in the master tool - die, that installed right after the snake element along the line axis. The tightening is carried out by a wheeled type haul-off unit. The pay-off procedure of twisted cores onto the coil is carried out by a column-type or portal-type pay-off machine. The meterage calculated is carried out by the meterage counter, that installed in front of the haul-off unit. The torsion unit, the haul-off unit and the pay-off machine are driven by independent separate motors, which synchronized with each other and with the control cabinet. There are alternative transmission systems with a common motor and transmission shafts. The monitoring and control system is implemented through the PLC controller and the touch panel.
